For Bernard Bronner, success did not come easy. Bernard Bronner, the 40 – year old second-generation president and CEO of Bronner Bros., Inc., learned the rules of success and achievement from his father,
Nathaniel Bronner, Sr.
Bernard’s preparation for running the 52 – year – old hair company began at age six with his own paper route. He then went from stock boy, cashier, accountant, beauty salesman, and vice-president of
marketing for the company.
In 1993, Bernard Bronner was elected president and CEO of Bronner Bros., Inc. Under Bernard’s direction, Bronner Bros., Inc. has positioned itself as a thriving family business. Bronner Bros., Inc. is
the state’s largest African-American Christian company.
Bernard continues to keep his father’s vision alive by expanding his holdings and developing even more business ventures.
In 1989, Bernard took on his greatest business challenge and started UPSCALE Magazine. The magazine’s popularity continues to grow in leaps and bounds. UPSCALE is a success-oriented
publication. Circulation for the magazine currently averages over 250,000.
In 1995, he started Bronner Bros. Real Estate Division acquiring a building with over 150 offices, which houses Bronner Bros. corporate headquarters and UPSCALE marketing executive staff. Bernard is endowed with a keen business sense – moving the company to another level with his unyielding energy and focused mind.
Despite all that he has achieved, Bernard gives total credit for everything Bronner Bros., Inc. is today to his father, Nathaniel H. Bronner, Sr. Bernard says his father’s basic philosophy dictated
that family members placed “God first, family second and business and everything else after that.” He says his father also emphasized the importance of hard work, honesty, moderation, thriftiness, and selective
association.
The executive is a graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in business and is married to Sheila Bronner, editor-in-chief of UPSCALE Magazine. To this union they have five children.
